don't pity me. pity history.

Jan 30th/09

as legend has it, the great scottish god of recreation achilles sprained his ankle in a prehistoric game of floor hockey (at the time, known as scott-ball). as a result, he was unable to defend the kingdom and thus scotland was overrun and ruled by the dinosaurs until sean connery led the revolution and freed the slaves.

well, history has seemingly repeated itself repeated itself as a week ago tuesday i twisted my ankle playing floor hockey, and thus have been unable to defend the kingdom, so to speak. fortunatly though, mr. connery caused the dinosaurs to go extinct over a hundred years ago, so now the only threat left are owls.

getting well, soon

a rant or all i got for christmas where bad vibes

Dec 06th/08

the slippery Frenchman is trying to sneak in the back door. and i don't like it. who are we, zimbabwe?

these guys are walking the wire man, they want you to believe the gov that just got here has a STALE SCENE. but these guys are practically rice cakes compared to mount-harper, a real man actually controlled by remote. even the green's, possibly the last hope for human common fucking sense, wants a seat at the table. what i felt surpassed disappointment.

do we want a gov with a gang mentality?

three thieves telling you we need to stimulate or we can kiss our fancy money making days goodbye. not convinced, thank you. maybe come back when you win an election. the game of dirty leftist at play. wait here kids, maybe we'll get to see the implosion.

why oh why do the clouds darken and the rain comes sideways when i want to enjoy the birds and bees from the comfort of an air matress, looking through an unzipped tent sleeve? i truly believe i controle the weather simply through my camping schedule.

onwards and upwards though, i have folkfested, and i have shined through rain and came out with very muddy shoes. but muddy feet and lack of heat will never defeat the will to interact and make the sweet tappity tap that fills a gap within my brain which would otherwise collapse.

lazy day at the office on the south-west part of town. under the overpass and over yonder you'd find me, basking in the glow of our neon office lights. thats how i tan.

the long weekend looms, and that is reason for celebration. and celebrate, we will. there is no doubt that tonight will be an evening of debauchery. i am looking forward and to dank, to bodies shoulder to shoulder and everybody looking for a place to put their jackets. i can't say that i'll outlast the evening, but the gang is going to give it a go.

is it 2:28 in the morning already? shit, increase of jack daniels leads to a decrease in conception of time. i think thats what the general told me, but i was smelling the roses and maybe missed it. ok, vacation, independence, new job, crazy fucking days from sunrise to sunset, and surviving the cruel winnipeg winter. caught up? well this is part where the rug gets pulled out and i find out it's all a big joke. but know if i am separating reality from fantasy then i'm glad i kept the recite, stamp my parking please.

doctor tuggin my teeth but the blues wouldn't let go

Mar 30th/07

well, i just get back from the dentist, getting my top wisdom teeth pulled. the right side tooth came out super easy, but the left side tooth just didn't want to come out. It took about forty minutes of tugging and pulling before it came out. when it did, dr. pattel goes "holy shit! look at that!", refering to the wicked curve on the root that was making it so hard to pull. he said he hadn't seen a tooth like that in a couple of years, and lucky for me it was mine.

prosperous march

Mar 20th/07

yes, asides from being my birthday month, march is traditionally very good to me. the best part might be the odd days of nice weather that we bigin to see once or twice a week.

at my job we profit share (twice) in march, which is nice. i like to open that cheque, and immediately go for sushi.

i drink a fair bit in march. a few weeks ago, i kicked march off by drinking so much in one night that i was licking my own sweat off my forhead because it had become alchoholic and delicious.

unfortunatly i will be ending march in a bit of discomfort as i'll be having my top wisdom teeth removed. fortunatly, i'll have five days off work to recover, and i'll get to eat all the ice cream i want.

a good march to you all

Dec 24th/06

just an update; the last fish died.

my fish are dead

Dec 24th/06

yes, its true. some sort of parasite or ick or something has taken over my fish tank, and every fish except one has died in the last four days. about fourteen fish; its very disheartening.

funny fish tank story though, i came home the other day and our mooncrab had gotten out of the tank, so i was looking all over the house, and even checked out in the halls to find the little fiend. i was dreading i was going to have to leave a note for my neibours that was like "missing: colourful crab". anyway, i did find him and we had a fucking standoff, but i'm bigger so i won and now he's back in the fishtank which is void of fish.

brian: I GOT SOMETHING AWESOME FOR CHRISTMAS. ask me later.

this is a shoutout to jenny in rebelstoke (i dont know how to spell it), i hope your not hungover today, but i'd bet you are.

everyone who left for the holidays, please come back soon. :)

leave only your footprints

Jul 09th/06

well, another folkfest notched in the belt, and you know it was a good time when you had to use half a bar of soap scrubing the dirt off your feet. and oh my god are my legs killing me. oh well, a few aches and pains seem to be worth a hella good five days.

robert belfour was my favorite act. straight ahead countly blues on electric, solo; i love it. and the refugee all stars from sierra leone dEfinatlEy cought my Ear at thE right timE.

and oh my god did we see a sweet band called afrodizz play at popes hill on saturday night, around 1:00 in the am. once again at thE right timE.

anywho, i'm:

sitting at the edge with my feet hanging over, looking into the sun

Apr 25th/06

hello. i'm trying to maintain high spirits due to all the shitty stuff thats happened as of late, and right now i'm doing pretty good.

firstly, some time ago i noticed one side of my neck felt strange. it was like it was tingeling or something, and eventually started to slightly swell up. i went and saw the doctor and he said i should get some bloodwork done and they would make me an appointment for a thyroid scan. it took about a month to just get the appointment booked, and during that time it started effecting my breathing, although not all the time. anyway, my appointment was yesterday and they covered my neck with some wierd blue gel and took the x-rays, and now i'm waiting for a week to see if they can tell me whats going on.

nextly, a week ago last thursday night someone broke into my car. they busted my lock on the drivers side, broke my gear-shift, took my cd player, and also my sub. luckely for me, my camera and about fifteen cd's in the car where untouched, as they probably didn't like blues (my guess is these are hip-hop fans). the thieves even had the courtasy to remove my 'best of michael bloomfield'' from the deck they were stealing and throw it on the floor. how kind. anyway, turns out it'll probably be next week before my car is fixed, which leads me too...

...today i took the wrong bus. not the end of the world, and at least it was after work and not before it. still kinda shitty.

on the brighter side of things, i'm really looking forward to the BFP BBQ this friday, and i dont have to work on saturday so sleeping in will be wonderful.

get well jonas, hands will heal.

hey

Mar 21st/06

i just missed my (seemingly) monthly update by a few days.

first off, thanks again to everyone who had a hand in my film project. shooting went great, and i've begun to glue it all together. i should have it done by about the first week in april, and maybe we'll have a BFP day (or evening, rather) to show the finished product.

looking forward to duke's social this weekend. who's not driving? 1,2,3 ... not it!

nothing else to report at this time. maybe i'll have something in a week or two.

month and a day between updates? i'm so lazy.

Feb 18th/06

ok, derek and brian we have to go see the perpetrators live. they play at hooligan's on the 22nd, which is a niftly little bar not too far from either of us. whad'ya say?

speaking of guitar, i've been playing since about 4:00 this afternoon and my fingers feel on fire, in that good way. but since i'm such a sloucher, my back is starting to hurt. and oh my god i need a new chair to sit on in front of the computer.

oh brian i have a treat for you. i bought an unreal skip james album with all sorts of clear-sounding goodies. spidery guitar playing, boogie piano pounding, and new versions of a lot of the old songs. it's yours to rip my friend.

i've been working on my new script, and it's starting to come along. should be fun to film, which i'm hoping will be set in the notorious BFP headquarters. derek, i hope you will be willing to lend me your lesbian, er thesbian skills.

other then that, just keepin' on.
until next time

shake em' on down

Jan 17th/06

i've got school tonight, but i'm not going. last thursday the class was split into three different groups, with everyone having the same assignment to do. i was butting heads with my group the whole time, and i know ours turned out terrible. i dont want to go through the humiliation of seeing our footage (which still has to be edited) compared to the other groups. i'm kinda tired, too.

election on monday. it looks like the conservatives are going to win. i'm just so disgusted how all the parties have acted since the last election (18 months, approx) that i couldn't really give a shit who wins, as long as nobody has a majority.

i've been listening to a bunch of skip james i downloaded. it was recorded in the sixties, and is totally clear sounding which is such a treat because skip james was an absolutly phenominal guitarist. the recordings of his i own are from the twenties, and the quality is horrible.

new years was a good time. sorry i was so fucked up i didn't really add anything to the enjoyment of the evening. thank you brian for lending us your bed, and derek for making us breakfast. i felt like shit the next day.

i picked up a best of michael bloomfield, which is really really good. he most famously played guitar on bob dylan's highway 61 revisited, but thats not really an accurate example of the blues he regularily played. 'killing floor' and his muddy waters cover 'mojo working' are especially awesome.

i need a calender. anyone got a spare one?

smell you later

future bfp member?

Dec 11th/05

congrads to mr. michael salo, who is the new father of a very little baby boy.

i sold my soul to mr. jimmy

Dec 09th/05

hello hello hello.

i'll start with last thursday. so i took my car to the autopac guys and they told me that my car was done and they wern't going to fix it, which was more then fine with me. the guy i was talking to said my adjuster would call me sometime within the next week with an offer.

last saturday i went to the bfp hq and had a very good time recording an opening little theme for my film course film with brian. we headed to the university of winnipeg and put it in the film in the secret computer lab, and everything seemed to come together pretty good so i was pleased. i hadn't brought my tapes though to record it on, so i planned to come back the and do that recording later.

this monday i went back to the lab with my tapes, but my mini tape wasn't taping, and i couldn't get it to work, which was very annoying because the project was due the next day.

this tuesday i bought a replacement tape, and left work an hour early so i could try and make the recording work, but as i drove out of the the parking lot, my car started screeching and driving like shit, so i pulled over and discovered my passanger side front tire and deflated to the point of which it was just limply lying between the pavement and my rim. i called my dad and he came and picked me up, and we drove straight to the university and went to the computer lab, and my new mini tape didn't work at first, but after about half an hour i made the motherfucker work and off we went to drop my project off and back to my lifeless car. we had an absolute hell of a time getting the bolts off, thank god for wd-40, and took the tire to canadian tire, who said they couldn't fix it. soooooo, back to the car and we put on my spair tire, which is what i would drive on for the rest of the week.

so on wednesday i talked to my adjuster and she offered me a very fair price for the car, thus i accepted. i told her i would drive it down the next day.

thursday comes around and my car has about an 1/8th of a tank of gas when i'm going to work. i filled a garbage bag full of junk from my backseats on my lunch break. afterwork i quickly went home, jetted down to the shell on corydon and used their vaccum to do one last cleaning, and drove the old topaz down to the claims office and dropped it off now with about 1/16th of a tank of gas (the low fuel light had been on all day). i did the paper work inside, and pointed the lady out a mistake they had made, which got me another $200 dolla'. very nice. i walked to corydon and met allison on the 18 on the way home.

so in short the moral is that my short film was fun to shoot but getting in on a tape was a pain in the ass, and i would rather get a new car then keep my old one.

i'm out.

i'm wearing my new green shirt

Nov 22nd/05

2:00 in the morning.

firstly, thanks to derek and brian and allison for working with me on my film. i captured the footage last thursday, and i'll start editing it this week. for the most part it looked pretty good, and on a side note i got a B+ for all my pre-production nonsence; hurray! i'll also have record a little music for the beginning and end, so tune the piano, lady.

last week i got rendered twice. the first one was last monday and a guy drove right into me as i was taking a left. then again last friday when i was turning from scurrfield onto kenaston blvd. luckely, it looks like the only thing busted on my car is the back bumper, and a small dent on the side. crazy fucking winnipeg drivers.

christmas time is near, i'm excited.

anyway, off to bed.
brian i have your hat.

hello one and all. tonight is saturday night and i'm off to a costume party at one of allisons friends houses, and i'm totally ziggy'd up for the evening. pictures will be taken.

first week at the new store went good, lots of opening boxes. luckey for me i escaped relatively cardboard-cut free. getting cut by cardboard is the worst. i hate you cardboard!

allison and i went to a corn maze last night. it was pretty good, although i've never been to one so i have nothing to compair it to. i was thinking it would be cool to go into a corn maze and play lazer tag.
